Holly Hunter was an American actor who was famous due to her roles in films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards, among them an Oscar. The accomplished actress started her career in acting by performing on stage, with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. Acting has always been her obsession. When she was in fifth grade, she played Helen Keller in an original production. She was born deaf in the one ear following a bout of mumps but did not let this disability dampen the determination of her to become an actress. She was a drama major at the college, and then moved between Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her dream. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in an lift. They wrote together Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. Her first film role was as an actress who played the leading character Swing Shift. Since then, she has appeared in numerous films, TV series as well as movies throughout the span of her 30-year career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
